The two-day annual event exclusively for prime members, Amazon Prime Day Sale 2020, took place on August 6-7, and involved more than 91,000 small and medium-sized enterprises, including women entrepreneurs from all over India.
This year’s e-commerce giant Amazon Prime Day sales came as a breath of cool air for SMEs, and 209 of those sales associates became crorepatis during 48-hour sales. On August 6-7, over 91,000 SMBs, craftspeople, weavers, and entrepreneurs from over 5,900 pin codes across India witnessed the two-day annual Shopping Event exclusively by Amazon Prime.
Amazon has also estimated that there were more than 4,000 registered sales of Rs 10 Lakh and more. Over 62,000 sellers from non-metro cities, tier 2 and tier 3 cities in the country participated.
“This Prime Day was a day for our small business partners, who look increasingly to Amazon to hold their businesses up. We ‘re humbled that we were capable of helping because it was our biggest prime day ever for small enterprises – almost 1 Lakh SME sales associates (70% from small cities) got orders from across 97% of India’s pin codes”. Amit Agarwal, SVP and Country Manager of Amazon India said.
The company announced almost twice as many buyers signed up for Prime Member this year compared to last year, while sellers saw their popularity and participated in large numbers in the case. The cities Kullu in Himachal Pradesh, Leh in Ladakh, Dholpur, and Sirohi in Rajasthan, Koraput in Odisha, Mokokchung in Nagaland, Garo Hills in Meghalaya, Gadag in Karnataka and Nagappatinam in Tamilnadu, and Panna in Madhya Pradesh were more than 65 percent of these new representatives.
